Designed to be a “landmark” for patient recognition, the “Contemporary” design style employs colorful painted stucco forms, expressive shapes and massing, offset planes, and repetitive patterns which create diversity and continuity within the modern theme. By incorporating curved forms in both plan and elevation, and integrating layered wall planes and surfaces at varying heights extending above the roof plan help to create visual interest while expressing the essence of this modern medical/surgical facility.

When completed, this 11,200 square foot State of Florida licensed ambulatory surgery center will house three (3) operating rooms with essential life-support and functional facilities. Stevens Construction from Fort Myers is the General Contractor for the project.

Located in Fort Myers since 1992, Christopher J. Dr. Dawson completed his undergraduate education at the College of William & Mary, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 1994.  He then earned his doctorate in medicine (M.D.) from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2005.  His surgical internship was completed at the University of Virginia in 2006.  In 2010, he completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Virginia Commonwealth University.  Dr. Dawson is Fellowship trained in Interventional Pain Medicine, having completed his training at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011. Dr. Dawson specializes in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation as well as Interventional Pain Medicine.

Recognized for his skill and his caring demeanor, Lee Memorial board members, the Regional Advisory Committee on Trauma Services, colleagues and former patients honored Dr. Leach for being dedicated to his profession, and for going the extra mile taking the time to educate patients offering all surgical and non-surgical options.

Victims of a golf cart hit and run accident while on vacation, Diane and Dave Schaeffer, of Buffalo, NY, were thrown 30 feet and both ended up with a 30 day hospital stay.  “Dr. Leach pulled up a chair and spent hours discussing our cases with us,” said Mr. Schaeffer via videotape at the luncheon.  “Our doctors at home are amazed and complimented Dr. Leach on his skill, we feel blessed as if he was our guardian angel.”

Dr. Glancy, the namesake of the awards program, was honored posthumously for his dedication to his career in trauma surgery, most of which was at Lee Memorial.

The Edison Festival of Lights 5K immediately precedes the Edison Festival of Lights Grand Parade, the nation’s largest and oldest night-time parade. When the runners complete their 3.2 mile circuit of downtown Fort Myers, the floats, marching bands and others will take to the streets, filling the night air with music thrilling the crowds lining the streets.

“The Edison Festival has been honoring Fort Myers’ most famous resident, Thomas Edison for more than 70 years. Preventing injuries is relatively simple. Proper stretching and warm-up prior to running is the best prevention. Wearing the correct shoes for your body and for the way in which you run is another key factor in injury prevention.”

“The likelihood of a running injury increases over time,” Dr. Reynolds added. “Since running is a repetitive activity, and one that involves continued pounding, the stress on bones and muscles can lead to injury. Since most runners love to run, any time away from this activity is stressful. If injury does occur, rehabilitation, under the care of doctors and therapists specializing in sports medicine will ensure a quick return to a running regimen.”

Founders Dr. Ronald Gardner, Dr. Jeffrey Richards and Dr. Charles Springer set out to establish our area’s only fellowship trained group practice specializing in a variety of surgical and nonsurgical orthopedic services designed to provide patient care from diagnosis to recovery and beyond.  Today, the practice serves several Lee County hospitals and employs 109.
